About
Hi, I'm Laura.
Marketing strategist. Writer. Digital MacGyver. Sailor of the Entrepreneur-ship.
Earning a Master's degree in Taiwan turned into seven years in Asia, teaching at a university in Beijing and working as an independent freelancer. Somewhere in there I learned that if you can make an idea land with a room full of people who don't share your language, you can make it land anywhere.
Fast forward to now: for almost a decade I've co-owned DasFort Media with Tony Frantz, helping small businesses with photos, video, websites, and the words and strategy that hold them all together. I've written for automotive groups, real estate teams, coaches, nonprofits, and more than a few people who just needed someone to say the thing clearly.
At the end of the day, I'm a nerd. Give me all the books, words, and writing. I just finished ghostwriting my first book, and I read entirely too many of everyone else's.
What that means for you
A resume is only interesting if it changes what you get. Here's how mine does.
- 01
Almost a decade inside a media company. I co-own DasFort Media with Tony Frantz. Hundreds of shoots, edits, and website builds later, I know what the photographer, the videographer, and the developer need from your message before they ask.
- 02
A writer before anything else. Most strategists hand you a plan. I hand you the plan and then write the website, the blog, the newsletter, and the bio that make it real.
- 03
Seven years in Asia, including teaching at a university in Beijing. Explaining something clearly to people who don't share your context is the entire job of marketing. I've had a lot of practice, in more than one language.
- 04
A ghostwritten book. Holding a whole book together in someone else's voice is the hardest version of what I do for a brand. Your website is a lot shorter.
- 05
Clients who stay. I've written for the same businesses for years, some for more than a decade. Most of my work comes through referrals.
Tony's photographs paired with Laura's copywriting are second to none. I consider them part of my business team and would highly recommend adding them to yours!
Everyone says they want to build lasting relationships with their customers, but I've never seen it more true than from DasFort Media. Trustworthy, friendly, and talented!

The Chronicles of Nogglization
Book recaps, reviews, poetry, and essays. Years of them. If you want to know how I think, this is where I do it out loud.
