This month had two distinct themes: feminism and short stories.

My absolute favorite book of the month was: Rage Becomes Herby Soraya Chemaly⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Highly Recommend

Enlightening, enriching, and inspiring not to accept the patriarchy as the norm. This book looks at the anatomy and power of anger, and how it can be used to disrupt the social power dynamic.

Chemaly’s book makes a perfect tandem read with Rebecca Traister’s Good and Mad.

Usually I’m not a big fan of short stories, but these were not bad and the low page count made them extra attractive: Women & Power (128 pages), Purple Cow (160 pages), Growth Hacker Marketing(176 pages), Galatea(20 pages), and Convenience Store Woman(176 pages).

Repeat Offenders

I’ve officially drunk the Seth Godin Kool-aid and read my 6th and 7th Godin books this month. Killing Commendatorewas my 7th Murakami book, not quite as good as 1Q84 or The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle, but still quintessential Murakami. I’m on my 4th Ryan Holiday book and currently reading two more—The Daily Stoic has been pretty awesome so far.

Madeline Miller is an absolute siren and I hope she writes more. Circe and Song of Achilles were two of my favorite books of 2018, and although Galatea was brief, it had the same haunting beauty of her other books.
